iRebecca

Have you ever wished that there were two of you? I know I have! There are so many times I wished I could be in two places at one time. I think if I could invent a robot, it would be one that was able to be customized to be sort of a "mini-me", if you will. I'd love to have a little robot version of myself running around the house, doing all the things that I do. It might give ME a little break for a change. My personalized bot would have to be able to cook and do laundry. It would even be helpful if it could give my child a bath and wash her hair, although I'm not sure how we could waterproof it for that.

Appearance wise, it would be made to look as much like you as it could. For example, mine would have longish brown hair and hazel-ish eyes. For an additional cost, one could even add a voice chip that was pre-recorded by them, so the robot could have their voice as well. Granted, it wouldn't fool anyone, and that wouldn't be the intention, but wouldn't it be a great conversation piece if you had a little metallic version of yourself rolling around your house, picking up things?

I believe I would call the product "iYou", since the main "selling point" would be the fact that it's made in its owner's likeness. It would even be possible to acquire a whole family of robots. You could have a "daddy robot" to be a golfing companion (think "caddy") or write checks for bills. The "mommy robot" would cook and do laundry and the "children robots" would put puzzles together and roll balls with the "real" children, therefore keeping them occupied. It would be a marvelous invention for kids like my daughter, who are only children and spend a lot of time playing alone.

It might be a pipe dream, but I think the iYou robot would simplify life in ways we can't imagine. If not, then it could at least keep us from being lonely!

As an only child myself I can say that an iRobot would have been nice to have around. It gets boring bouncing the ball against the wall eventually.
